Chef de Partie

For chefs focused on career progression, this Chef de Partie opportunity in Queensland offers a visible path forward. A professional hotel kitchen is seeking candidates with real commercial experience who can take ownership of a section and perform reliably under pressure.

The role spans restaurant dining, conferences, functions and events. Suitability will be assessed on your practical skills, qualifications and employment background, and greater responsibility can be earned through demonstrated performance.

A proven Chef de Partie displaying the required technical ability, leadership and consistency may be able to progress into a Junior Sous Chef position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of an assigned kitchen section and manage it independently
  • Organise daily preparation and complete mise en place
  • Prepare and cook food to established quality and presentation benchmarks
  • Ensure consistency across restaurant, event and function services
  • Support conference and high-volume food service operations
  • Manage portion sizes and make efficient use of ingredients
  • Assist with stock rotation and controlling food wastage
  • Collaborate with senior chefs and fellow kitchen team members
  • Support junior team members and help build a positive kitchen culture
  • Uphold food hygiene, safety and cleanliness standards in line with workplace health and safety procedures
  • Stay organised and effective throughout peak service periods
  • Accept additional responsibilities as your demonstrated capability grows
  • Support lunch, dinner and event service, other operational requirements and the smooth running of the wider kitchen

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or as an equivalent commercial kitchen professional
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification
  • Capability to run and manage a kitchen section independently
  • Demonstrated practical skills in cooking and food preparation
  • Commercial kitchen experience across a variety of service environments
  • Understanding of WHS requirements as well as food safety and hygiene
  • Ability to deliver consistent quality under pressure
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • A dependable, professional approach to kitchen responsibilities
  • Availability for evening, weekend and public holiday work as required
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous
  • Australian work rights where applicable, with sponsorship candidates considered on the basis of individual eligibility
  • Ability to supply appropriate evidence of qualifications and relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and career progression, including willingness to take on greater responsibility based on proven performance
