Chefs aiming to move into kitchen management have a clear progression opportunity here. An established care organisation in New South Wales is hiring an experienced Chef Manager to own kitchen operations and lead a team providing quality dining to older residents.

The role suits a qualified chef ready to go beyond day-to-day cooking and take responsibility for leadership, menu planning, food quality, compliance and kitchen performance, skills that strengthen any long-term culinary career.

The schedule is Monday to Friday at 76 hours per fortnight, with a competitive salary of $92,820–$109,200 plus salary packaging benefits in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing menus aligned with nutritional requirements and resident preferences
  • Planning, preparing and overseeing nutritious meals for residents
  • Monitoring food preparation, cooking, portion control and presentation
  • Ensuring timely meal delivery at appropriate quality standards
  • Holding overall responsibility for daily kitchen operations
  • Leading and coordinating kitchen staff to deliver consistent service standards
  • Training, mentoring and supporting kitchen employees
  • Upholding strict food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards
  • Managing stock, ordering and food supply, while helping to control food costs and minimise waste
  • Liaising with care teams on special diets and individual meal requirements
  • Gathering resident feedback and contributing fresh ideas to improve menus, processes and the overall dining experience
  • Keeping kitchen records and required documentation accurate
  • Running a safe, efficient kitchen in accordance with relevant regulations
  • Fostering a respectful, positive and team-oriented kitchen culture

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Recognised Commercial Cookery qualification
  • Strong professional background as a Chef Manager, Head Chef or other senior culinary professional, including management of a commercial, institutional or large-scale catering operation
  • Track record in team leadership and supervising staff
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements
  • Ability to plan and produce nutritious, varied, high-quality meals, informed by an understanding of special dietary and nutritional requirements
  • Strong organisation and kitchen management capability, supported by excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams
  • Commitment to high standards of resident care and service
  • Prior experience in aged care, healthcare, hospitality or large-scale catering is advantageous
