Café management is about more than supervision. This Café Manager role calls for genuine barista experience, confidence leading people and managing rosters, and the commercial focus to keep service, stock, costs and customer experience on track.
The right candidate will bring a strong, credible employment history and the leadership to take ownership of a busy café. There is also scope to contribute to menus, special offerings and events that strengthen the café's bond with its customers, a valuable way for hospitality professionals from India and elsewhere to broaden their management experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide the baristas and front-of-house staff, providing coaching and coordination on every shift
- Hold accountability for how the café runs each day
- Step in behind the espresso machine yourself to protect the consistency of every coffee served
- Build team capability in drink preparation, service expectations and in-house procedures
- Plan rosters so the café is staffed efficiently from day to day
- Shape seasonal menus, specials and the drinks line-up
- Arrange pop-ups, private events and live entertainment, acting as the contact for performers, suppliers and event partners
- Oversee inventory, ordering and stock levels
- Keep a close watch on operating costs and support basic financial administration
- Uphold hygiene, food safety and workplace safety requirements
- Present a tidy, well-organised and inviting space for customers
- Resolve feedback and service issues, building lasting customer relationships and a positive culture in the café
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years managing a café or restaurant, plus strong hands-on barista experience on commercial espresso equipment
- Diploma in Hospitality relevant to applicable Queensland sponsorship pathways
- Minimum 3 years of Australian hospitality management experience following completion of the relevant diploma, for sponsorship eligibility
- Capacity to supply verifiable evidence of qualifications and work history
- Demonstrated capability leading teams and managing staff, with strong skills in rostering, organisation and managing time
- Working knowledge of stock control, cost-of-goods and basic finance processes
- Experience coordinating events or developing menus is an advantage
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with a reliable, flexible attitude to evening and weekend shifts
- Current food-safety certification
- Valid work rights or eligibility for sponsorship
- State of work: Queensland; sponsorship available for eligible candidates
