Butchery Assistant Manager

This opening is intended for an experienced Butcher whose practical track record can be checked and who wants to advance from routine production work to a senior position.

In this New Zealand role you will partner with the Butchery Manager on the efficient running of the department, protecting product standards, backing your colleagues, looking after customers and keeping daily operations on target.

The position is full-time and permanent, giving skilled professionals from India and elsewhere a way to gain recognition for their background while taking on wider leadership duties.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the efficient day-to-day running of the butchery department
Apply proven butchery methods to cutting and meat preparation
Carry out carcass breakdown and packing using recognised techniques
Ensure product presentation and quality stay precise and uniform
Provide colleagues with practical training and daily guidance
Assist with staff supervision and the coordination of daily workloads
Help manage stock rotation, ordering and wastage control
Uphold strict food safety, hygiene and workplace safety practices
Develop positive customer relationships through professional service
Oversee the tidiness and organisation of the department
Partner with the Butchery Manager to resolve operational issues and sustain productivity

Requirements & Eligibility

Solid professional background as a Butcher, including demonstrated practical command of meat preparation and a range of cuts
Assured knife handling and a track record of breaking down carcasses
Prior responsibility for supervising or overseeing staff is advantageous
Capacity to supply evidence that substantiates your stated work history
A professional, dependable and accountable manner, backed by good communication and interpersonal ability
Effectiveness as a team member while keeping accuracy and quality high under pressure
Strong grasp of food safety and workplace safety obligations
Availability for work from Tuesday to Saturday
Eligibility to satisfy the requirements of the relevant sponsorship pathway
