Bar and Restaurant Manager

This is a chance to move your hospitality management career onto an international stage. A leading hospitality group is filling several full-time manager roles across New Zealand, covering the Auckland, Southland, Canterbury and Queenstown regions.

The group wants Hospitality Managers who bring a solid record in front-of-house leadership, outstanding customer service and the capability to direct venue operations. For professionals from India and other countries, sponsorship opportunities are available to suitable overseas candidates, making this a practical step for building a career in the New Zealand hospitality sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the team's capability in responsible service and customer management through training and guidance
  • Direct daily venue and front-of-house operations, providing excellent customer service and a safe environment for guests and staff
  • Own compliance with liquor licensing requirements, venue policies, workplace safety requirements, the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and the Gambling Act 2003
  • Control liquor purchasing, inventory and stock, along with reporting procedures
  • Plan efficient rosters across bar and service operations
  • Set and maintain presentation, cleanliness and organisation standards venue-wide, ensuring equipment is kept in effective working order
  • Oversee financial procedures, cash handling and security processes, as well as venue records, incident reports and daily operational documentation
  • Design promotional activity that increases sales and customer engagement
  • Contribute to business goals and profitability alongside the management team, and complete further operational duties as required

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A minimum of 2 years in a relevant hospitality or front-of-house management role
  • Hospitality qualification relevant to the role, or demonstrated industry experience
  • Must be a Duty Manager Certificate holder, or be eligible to obtain one
  • Depth of background across hospitality operations and customer service
  • Team management experience gained in a high-volume venue
  • Prior work with TAB and gaming/pokie machines (highly desirable)
  • Sound understanding of responsible service and liquor licensing regulations
  • Willing to work flexible schedules that include weekends, late nights and public holidays
  • Capacity for full-time work of 30–40 hours per week
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability
