Automotive Technicians

Roles may include Automotive Technician, Senior Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Master Technician, EV/High-Voltage Technician and Technical Specialist.

You could work across a wide range of brands and technical settings, from premium European and luxury models to Japanese, Korean and emerging electric vehicle brands, which makes this a strong step for anyone building long-term expertise.

Selection centres on evidence: what you have done, where your skills were developed and the technical work you have genuine experience in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with modern electronic vehicle systems and ECU technology, and with EV, hybrid and high-voltage systems where suitably trained
  • Investigate mechanical and electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment and workshop technology
  • Perform servicing, scheduled maintenance, mechanical repairs and component replacement
  • Conduct vehicle inspections to determine repair requirements
  • Apply manufacturer repair procedures and technical specifications
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, diagnostics and completed repairs
  • Uphold safe, organised workshop practices and collaborate effectively with technicians and workshop staff
  • Achieve consistent workmanship and quality across all assigned repairs

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum five years of relevant experience as an automotive technician
  • Recognised automotive trade qualification, backed by previous dealership or recognised OEM workshop experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge together with proven diagnostic and fault-finding capability
  • Verifiable employment and workshop experience, with supporting evidence for qualifications and employment history
  • Relevant manufacturer or brand training (where available)
  • ECU programming or advanced diagnostics experience is advantageous
  • A background in EV, hybrid or high-voltage work is highly regarded
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards in the workshop
  • Completed TRA Skills Assessment
  • Required English-language test completed
  • Ready and willing to relocate to Australia (suitable overseas candidates may be eligible for sponsorship)
