Automotive Mechanic / WoF Inspector

Automotive technicians looking to build a long-term career in New Zealand will find a solid next step here. An independent Auckland workshop that is growing its team is hiring experienced mechanics on permanent, full-time terms, Monday to Saturday.
The workshop has two openings with different scopes. Position 1 combines mechanical work with WoF inspections done to NZTA requirements, and it calls for current WoF Inspector authority. Position 2 concentrates on servicing, diagnostics, mechanical repairs and WoF-related repairs, a strong base for broadening your technical range.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled servicing and maintenance
- Diagnose faults methodically with diagnostic equipment
- Use the full range of workshop tools safely while maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Repair braking, suspension and steering systems
- Carry out wheel alignments and associated suspension checks
- Inspect, fit and rotate tyres
- Repair engines, cooling systems and electrical systems
- Complete general mechanical repairs, pre-WoF inspections and WoF-related repairs
- Document all work on job cards and repair records
- Communicate with customers professionally
- Position 1: conduct WoF inspections under NZTA requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- Solid mechanical experience in the automotive trade
- Capacity to work independently
- Good diagnostic capability and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, honest and professional conduct
- Good attention to detail and quality of workmanship
- Good communication skills, with a full NZ driver's licence
- NZ automotive qualification preferred
- Position 1: current WoF Inspector authority is required
