The successful Accountant will bring proven experience and strong attention to detail, taking ownership of complex accounts receivable and financial reporting processes. Core responsibilities centre on NDIS and brokerage receivables, alongside accounting support for the Support at Home function, spanning funding claims, reconciliations, month-end reporting and compliance, all aimed at keeping financial information accurate, transparent and well controlled.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead NDIS and brokerage receivables end to end, from preparing quotes and service agreements to raising invoices, lodging claims and collecting payment
  • Scrutinise funding claims, resolving underpayments, rejections and delays
  • Match receipts against client accounts and reconcile remittances and funding payments, pursuing outstanding debts appropriately
  • Reconcile receivables control accounts, investigate variances and post the resulting journals and adjustments
  • Deliver accounting support to the Support at Home receivables function
  • Handle complex account enquiries and assist with reconciling client budgets
  • Partner with operational teams to verify funding arrangements, services, invoices and agreements
  • Perform reconciliations across general ledger, intercompany, balance sheet and bank accounts
  • Process depreciation, prepayments, accruals and other accounting entries
  • Support the financial close cycle on a monthly and annual basis
  • Assist in producing cash-flow reports, balance sheets and profit and loss statements
  • Contribute to financial analysis, management reporting, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and expenditure monitoring
  • Support statutory compliance, including GST, BAS and payroll tax obligations
  • Uphold accurate accounting records underpinned by appropriate internal controls
  • Contribute to enhancing receivables processes, reporting and accounting systems

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance or an allied discipline
  • Demonstrated experience working as a professional accountant
  • Strong grounding in reconciliations, payment allocation, collections, invoicing and accounts receivable
  • Practical experience with month-end accounting, journal entries and financial reporting
  • A working knowledge of accounting principles as applied in Australian practice
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Experience operating financial management and accounting software
  • Strong capability in problem-solving and analysis
  • Meticulous attention to detail combined with excellent organisational ability
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Capacity to work independently while contributing effectively to a broader team
  • Professional handling of confidential financial information
  • Prior work with NDIS, aged care, Support at Home or government-funded receivables is highly regarded
  • Having worked with funding schedules, quotes and service agreements is advantageous
  • An understanding of the Nurses Award and SCHADS Award is advantageous
  • Employment Hero and payroll process experience is advantageous
  • Holding a CPA or CA qualification, or progressing toward obtaining one, is advantageous
  • Ability to satisfy Australian employment and applicable sponsorship requirements, with employer sponsorship available for the right candidate
