The Furniture Upholsterer role suits a professional whose practical skills are proven through genuine industry experience.

The position is hands-on and assumes existing trade knowledge: you should be able to manage a variety of furniture pieces confidently without extensive training. A proven work history, strong attention to detail and the physical capability for workshop-based recovering are expected.

The role runs 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with overtime during busier periods. Skilled tradespeople from India and elsewhere with verifiable experience are encouraged to review the requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Select and apply suitable upholstery methods for each furniture type
  • Recover and upholster furniture spanning antique, traditional and contemporary styles
  • Deliver professional-standard restoration and recovering work
  • Manage upholstery projects independently with minimal assistance
  • Operate upholstery tools, machinery and workshop equipment safely
  • Prepare, position and move furniture frames throughout production
  • Lift frames onto and off work benches, and assist with loading and unloading furniture for transport
  • Maintain high standards of finish, accuracy and workmanship
  • Liaise with team members responsible for cutting, sewing and frame construction
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised workshop
  • Complete a 40-hour working week from Monday to Friday
  • Support overtime requirements when workload increases

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven hands-on experience with a wide variety of furniture styles
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in furniture upholstery
  • Capacity to complete upholstery work with limited supervision
  • Strong practical understanding of recovering and restoration techniques
  • Competence in operating relevant upholstery tools and equipment safely
  • Physical capability to lift and handle furniture frames
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent finishing standards
  • Reliability and the capacity to maintain a full-time work schedule, plus willingness to work overtime when business demands require
  • Professional upholstery experience that is verifiable
  • Cutting and sewing skills are an advantage
  • Experience in furniture frame-making is an advantage
  • Must meet the applicable requirements for sponsorship consideration
