Climbing Arborist

Arboriculture professionals looking to grow their technical skills will find real variety in this Bay of Plenty role. The Climbing Arborist will join a professional tree care team with quality equipment, paid training, strong workplace support and a diverse workload.

Remuneration includes competitive hourly rates aligned to skills and experience, along with additional allowances, paid lunch breaks and emergency callout rates. Eligible overseas applicants relocating to New Zealand receive support, and regular paid training supports continued professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver climbing arborist operations across commercial, rural and residential properties
Execute tree reductions, technical removals, rigging and controlled dismantling
Climb and work at height safely using professional arboricultural equipment, adhering to planned work methods and site safety requirements
Operate and maintain specialist machinery and equipment
Contribute to large-scale commercial tree projects and deliver smaller residential tree care work
Coordinate with ground staff to complete projects efficiently
Assess opportunities to retain existing trees and vegetation
Attend emergency tree work as required
Engage in regular paid training while maintaining professional standards across all work

Requirements & Eligibility

Level 3 or 4 Arboriculture qualification, or experience that is equivalent
Professional climbing arborist experience relevant to the role
Competence in climbing, rigging and technical removals
Capable of undertaking climbing operations with minimal supervision
Class 1 driver's licence (essential)
Class 2 or Heavy Transport licence (advantageous)
Commitment to workplace health and safety
Honest, dependable and motivated, with good teamwork and communication
Openness to additional training and professional development
International candidates holding relevant qualifications and experience are welcome
